Homeopathy Dosing Guide

This guide provides universal instructions for dosing homeopathic remedies using both pillules and liquid stock. Please note, the information here is general and has been prepared specifically for RMDY homeopathic remedies. For specific guidance, please refer to your reference booklet.

Important: Dosing in homeopathy is standard across all ages, from infants to the elderly. Homeopathy focuses on the frequency of doses, not the quantity, so even very young children can tolerate the same doses as adults. Every dose stimulates the vital force in the body, promoting a healing response.

How to Take a Dose

Dosing with
Liquid Stock

Prepare the Remedy in Water:

  • Open the bottle of your chosen remedy.
  • Place 1-2 drops of the stock liquid (extra drops are fine) into a clean bottle, ideally glass (but not essential).
  • Fill this bottle with approximately 500 ml of water (you can use more or less depending on your needs).
  • Seal the bottle and shake vigorously. This ensures the remedy is thoroughly mixed into the water.

Take Your Dose:

  • The water now contains the remedy. Every sip from this bottle is a potent dose that your body will recognize.
  • For infants or those who cannot drink much at once, prepare the remedy in a bottle as above. Use a syringe or teaspoon to administer small amounts of the water directly into the mouth, enough to wet the tongue or mouth.

Replenishing the Remedy:

  • If you need to use the remedy frequently, prepare a new bottle daily, or store it in a glass jar for up to a week (ensure the water remains clear with no dark marks).

Dosing with Pillules

Take the Pillules:

  • For each dose, take 2 pillules (or as recommended).
  • Place the pillules directly under the tongue and let them dissolve. This ensures the remedy is absorbed through the mucous membranes.
  • OR Diluted into water will ensure your kit lasts longer as each sip from the bottle is a subsequent dose.

For Infants or Small Children:

  • Place the pillules in a small amount of water, allow them to dissolve, and administer the solution with a syringe or teaspoon.

Under the Tongue
  • If you prefer, you can place a couple of drops of stock liquid directly under the tongue.
  • While this method is effective, the remedy will be absorbed more slowly compared to diluting it in water for frequent sipping. Consider this method for smaller doses or when on the go.

Breastfeeding/Formula/Other Liquids:
  • Avoid adding remedies to breast milk, formula, or juice. Instead, create the remedy in a separate bottle and administer directly with a syringe or teaspoon.
  • The goal is enough liquid to wet the mouth, but it does not need to be swallowed entirely.

Frequency of Dosing

For Acute or Intense Conditions (e.g. fever, pain, trauma):

  • You may need to dose frequently, typically every 15 minutes to an hour.

For Moderate Conditions (e.g. colds, digestive upset):

Dose every 4 hours or as recommended.

  • As the Condition Improves:
  • Gradually reduce the frequency of dosing or discontinue when the improvement is clear. Do not continue dosing indefinitely unless advised by a homeopath.

How to Choose the Right Remedy

When selecting a remedy, always note the specific symptoms being experienced. The correct remedy will match the "symptom picture" closely. A very small dose of the remedy will trigger the body's natural healing processes.

Potency and Strength
  • The potencies in your First Aid Kit are typically stronger than those found in health food stores. These stronger potencies are effective for acute ailments but should not be used for prolonged periods without the guidance of a homeopath.
  • Homeopathic remedies in your kit are stored in a high concentration of alcohol, which preserves them for a minimum of 2 years.

How Often to Dose

Homeopathy emphasizes the frequency of doses, not the quantity. For most acute ailments, frequent dosing (every 15 minutes or hour) is best. As symptoms improve, reduce the dosing interval.

  • Acute/Intense Conditions: Frequent doses (every 15 minutes to 1 hour).
  • Moderate Conditions: Every 4 hours or as advised.
  • Improvement: Reduce or stop doses as appropriate.

Storing Your Kit
  • Store Remedies Properly: Keep your remedies out of direct sunlight in a cool, dry place, away from electronic devices (such as mobile phones, microwaves, etc.) to maintain their potency.

Safety and Other Medications

Homeopathic remedies are safe for all ages, including infants, pregnant women, and the elderly. They typically do not interfere with conventional medications. However, if you have concerns, we recommend consulting a homeopath or a medical professional.

Classical vs Acute Treatment
  • First Aid Remedies: These are designed for acute conditions like cuts, bruises, fevers, or upset stomach. In case of serious accidents or emergencies, always seek professional medical assistance.
  • Chronic Conditions: For ongoing or chronic ailments (such as eczema), it is best to consult a professional homeopath for a personalized treatment plan.

We hope this helps you understand how to dose homeopathy effectively for yourself and your family. Remember, homeopathy is about the frequency of doses, so be sure to adjust according to the condition you're treating. Always refer to your reference booklet for specific instructions related to your chosen remedies.

The guidelines are for the treatment of simple and acute complaints. In the case of serious accidents or emergencies, seek medical attention immediately.
