The details of our two year course to become a qualified Homeopathic Practitioner.

Duration:

• 2 years 
• 6 Trimesters Total - 3 Trimesters per year 
• 14 week trimesters 
• 42 week academic years
• Approximately 10 hours of learning each week - during the trimester

Commencing September 2024. Our expectation is that the next intake will be in September 2026. 

Payment fees and schedule:

Payment will not commence until stage 3 - contract signed.

• $2,000 AUD will be discounted for those in the Practitioner Course.

Co-requisites/Pre-requisites:

The prior learning necessary is a basic anatomy and physiology course. This unit is offered at many universities such as Switched on Health. This unit will need to be completed at some point throughout the 2-year course duration, as we will tick this box for the student portfolio upon graduation. All nurses, naturopaths and health professionals will not be required to do any further learning in this area if they have covered anatomy and physiology prior. 

 The Course:

Our online course in homeopathy is based on a spiral curriculum model, which will prepare you to become a professional homeopath. The course offers an innovative approach to homeopathic education with an emphasis placed on client/patient contact from the very start of the course. This will enable you to develop competence and confidence from the beginning of your homeopathic studies by gradually building upon the foundation concepts, while revisiting and deepening your understanding over time. Our expectation is that by year two – students are building their own successful homeopathic practice, so that upon graduation – they are already immersed in the industry and earning an income. 

Your education will include:

An introduction to the key principles of Homeopathy:

• A brief history of the development of homeopathy
  The Organon of Medicine
• The basic principles and philosophy of homeopathy (Similia Similibus Curentur, Minimum/Optimum dose, Single remedy, Potentisation, Miasms)
• Understanding the vital force and the concept of healing (chronic and acute disease, the direction of cure, susceptibility)
• An introduction to the tools of homeopathy – including the repertory and materia medicas

The foundations of Homeopathy Practice:

• Case-taking skills – Learning what is needed from your client and so how to take a case
• Case Analysis - distinguishing what needs to be treated
• When and how to use the repertory
• Using materia medicas – how to study a remedy
• Sources of remedies
• Other remedy information sources
• Provings
• Herbal tinctures/homeobotanicals/flower essences etc. 

Clinical Application of Homeopathy:

• Case management
• Clinical observation
• Case recording
• Clinical reasoning (choosing remedies and treatment planning – first and subsequent prescriptions)
• Practical application of homeopathic methodologies
• Ethical and legal considerations in practice
• Integration of homeopathy with other natural therapies/orthodox medicine
• Preparation of homeopathic remedies (homeopathic pharmacy)
• Dispensing homeopathic remedies
• Prognosis

Business management:

• Setting up a homeopathic practice
• Patient management and communication
• Marketing and promotion
• Setting fees

Self-care in homeopathic practice:

• Supervision

Research in homeopathy:

• High level evidence that supports the efficacy of homeopathy

What will each week look like: 

We will have one session each week devoted to the theory of homeopathy – we will start with the foundations and build upon them. 

We will have one recorded real life case taking – where you witness, from the very beginning of the course, how to take a case, how to repertorise, and how to follow a case through the whole healing journey. After the case taking – the lecturer will walk you through the steps to arriving at the prescription – the remedy and the dosage. They will tie in all the principles of homeopathy in this real life setting – what is a miasm, what needs to be treated etc. 

You will begin the course as the observer on these cases, however it will not be long before you will be taking your own cases and adding to your personal portfolio. By the end of this 2 years, you will be so familiar with the process of case taking and managing a case that your success in inevitable. We want to be graduating competent, confident homeopathic practitioners – ready to take on all manner of complex cases. 

We will have special guest homeopathic presenters scattered throughout the curriculum – homeopaths who will present to you based on their specialised area of homeopathy. 

 Assessment:

By portfolio

You will create a portfolio that showcases your learning journey and the development of your skills over the 2 years. This could include reflective accounts, observational reports, and personal insights that demonstrate your understanding and application of homeopathic principles and practices.

Practical assessment (online)

• Observation hours in clinics 
• Sitting in with graduate homeopaths 

Your own case studies - you will submit 10 completed case studies, each with a minimum of 2 follow ups. This will enable you to present your understanding of homeopathic principles, assessment, and treatment strategies so your clinical reasoning can be evaluated.

This course is flexible, and you will be supported each step of the way. There are no assessments and formal testing, simply knowledge gained and your ability to use that within the context of case taking and prescribing. You will be showing us your competency in your portfolio as you begin taking cases. 

What will my qualification be? 

This course will be accredited with a number of homeopathic and complimentary medicine associations. You will be equipped to practice Homeopathy around the world. You will receive a signed certificate upon graduation. Homeopathy is an unregulated modality – with no formal registration required therefore there is no need for you to join an association if you do not wish to. 

Education providers around the world are slowly moving away from the older didactic style of learning and moving toward competency-based programs. This two-year course is designed to graduate some of the most competent practitioners in the world - who not only understand the theory but can integrate this into our practical work life as successful homeopaths. 

This course will be conducted online and is relatively self-paced – with only one mandatory live session a month. At the end of each trimester – you will update your portfolio to reflect what you have learned, ticking every competency that we have covered. 

The cohort will be split into smaller sized study groups based upon time zone and location, so that you can begin to build your community that will support you throughout not only learning, but the real world. We have found that these relationships are the glue that keep homeopaths successful and thriving in practice. It will be in these groups that you will attend live tutorials. Please note that this is not a Bachelor or Diploma, which we will discuss in stage 2.
